The last struggle against Coronavirus is being fought here, in the intensive care units which now are full, in Lombardy’s hospitals. Even the Poliambulanza, a no profit private hospital in Brescia, has modified its organization since the explosion of the pandemic, in order to deal with the emergency. Brescia, right after Bergamo, is the province which has been most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. From 16 beds at the intensive care, they got 50 beds doubling the rooms capacity and turning other rooms into intensive care rooms. The next steps will be using surgery rooms for intensive care for Covid patients. “We are greatly struggling - tells us dr. Giuseppe Natalini, director of the Poliambulanza intensive care unit, right now we have 50 patients, all affected by Covid. We have been forced to double the number of patients for each room, and we are currently full.””I think the facility is now reaching full capacity - says dr.Alessandro Triboldi, general director of the Poliambulanza in Brescia - we do not only need bed but we also need caregivers, individual protection devices, we need fans, the logistic time is not compatible with the time of the virus spread”.
